hubset:Elan RS wheel systems orbit around a proprietary hub designed and manufactured in the USA. The front hub features a unique 85mm wide flange placement which increases lateral wheel stiffness by nearly 20%. Patented Differential Flange Diameter™ on the rear hub lends a mechanical advantage effectively doubling the number of functional pulling spokes; increasing wheel durability. CNC machined, black anodized hub shells with oversized axles provide high strength, stiffness and light weight. Optimized flange contours provide full spoke elbow support, increasing spoke life. Hubs also feature precision cartridge bearings with low drag supplementary contact seals and bearing preload adjustment on both front and rear hub shells. freehub mechanism:CNC machined Titanium freehub body has 3 sprung steel pawls for a bomb-proof torque transfer system. Pawls are driven by 3 hardened steel leaf springs. The system is strong, simple and dependable. rims:The 22mm tall front and rear single cavity rims feature a semi-aero rim profile with a narrow spoke bed to minimize weight. Elan RS rims offer additional impact strength and longer service life for heavier riders and tougher road conditions. Brake sidewalls are CNC-machined for smooth, consistent braking performance. Available in black anodized color only. spoke & nipple:The front and rear wheels use different spokes. The front spokes are 14 / 17 gauge butted and the rear spokes are custom butted 14 / 15 gauge for added strength and stiffness. Internal alloy nipples minimize rotating mass and contribute to cleaner aero performance. Patented Self Aligning Nipple™ design increases spoke life.
